Burglaries are one of the most common crimes in California. Potential thieves are often on the lookout for easy targets. Two homes in Gilroy were recently burglarized and a young man has been taken into custody as a suspect in those break-ins. He must now focus on his criminal defense.
According to police reports, one of the burglaries occurred about 4:30 a.m. on a recent morning. The thief allegedly gained access to a home through a garage side door that was left unlocked. The suspect reportedly stole several items and then fled the house. When the police apprehended him a short distance from the home, they claimed that he had the stolen property in his possession.
The young man, a 19-year-old, is also believed to have been responsible for a burglary at another home in the area. Police say the second home was burgled the night before. In that case, a number of electronic items were reported missing. The police believe they have evidence that links the man to that burglary. The accused is being held in the San Benito County Jail.
Facing charges for a crime in California can be a frightening experience. A young man confronted with the reality of the consequences of his actions may be unsure of his legal rights and what options are available to him. An experienced attorney can provide the accused with a criminal defense that ensures the accused is aware of his rights and that those rights are protected throughout the criminal justice process.
